There was a time in my life when I was just out of high school and starting college where I thought my timing for my life should be up to me. I decided to take the wheel away from God and drive myself to where I thought my future needed to be.
This selfish decision led me to have a lot of unhealthy and broken relationships. Along the way I got engaged to a man that was not in God’s plan for me, I broke trust and hurt relationships with my family, and by taking control and not handing the reigns to God I ultimately put God in the passenger seat.
But God is faithful, and loves us more than we know. His relentless pursuit of his children is something I will be forever grateful for.
Ultimately, my engagement was broken off, I was down, discouraged, and seemingly without hope. But God has a wonderful way of always providing hope and grace when we need it most. When the news came to me that my wedding was to be called off I was on my way to church; to a place I found support when I didn’t deserve it, to a place I found comfort when I had hurt those around me, to a place of peace in a world of chaos.
God’s Timing is PERFECT.
Jump forward several years after that point. I found God’s plan unimaginably better than anything I could even dream up. He brought an amazing man of God into my life. He provided the promise of marriage, children and a life of purpose.
God’s Timing is PERFECT.
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
To the man I was engaged to before: I am sorry. I hurt you and others on my selfish journey.
To my church family: I love you all. Thank you for showing me the support and community that God desires for us within the church body.
To my family: I wouldn’t be the person I am without you. Thank you for your unconditional love.
To my husband: I wish I would have be patient and listened to God’s timing. Thank you for loving me and giving me the life that is far better then I even dreamed about!
And while this lesson took place almost 10 years ago I am reminded of God’s perfect timing every time I look into the eyes of my children and I can not be more grateful to God!
God’s Timing is PERFECT!
