Peace For My Children

unnamed-1

Every child while they are growing up goes through this stage where they have a healthy stranger danger fear. And children also go through stages where they can have a reservations to participate in new situations.

One of my children is currently very bashful and it takes him longer to warm up to  new people and places. He has a physical response that is concerning when he is trying to figure out how to adjust. Health professionals have asked a lot of questions to try to figure out the cause of the anxiety he gets in new settings. As parents we have been reading about this personality.  A lot of articles and opinions out there are advocating for different ways of handling his feelings. I try to remember that when it comes to training our children that God is not a God of confusion but of peace. While hearing advice or reading recommendations I looks for the peace that comes only from God to guide my decisions.  But after all our reading, the thing that most resounded to us was Philippians 4:7

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The Lord gave us brains to use them. He encourages us to research and respond to life. But I also believe he provides us with the answers that transcends all other understanding. He give us peace. Peace to make decisions. Peace to feel comfort. Peace that is only from Him and cant seem to even be described.

Furthermore, he is our protector. He will guard our hearts and minds! My little boy needs his heavenly father to protect the fear and anxiety his gets by his peace. I as his mom needs the peace of God to guard my heart and mind as well!

Dear Lord, I pray your peace guards my children’s hearts and minds. I pray that you will bring your peace, like only you can do! A peace that transcends our human understand! I pray that my children will respond to your peace. That it will bring them comfort and security! In the name of Jesus! Amen!

Join me in welcoming in the peace of God into our lives and the lives of our children!
