Baby Shower – Bun in the Oven & Burgers on the Grill

unnamed-1

When we were having our fourth sweetie pie, we really struggled with whether or not we were going to have a baby shower. We had already had “all” the things we needed as far as big items go. BUT, what we ultimately decided is having a baby no matter what number in the birth order should be CELEBRATED! We wanted to not only celebrate our newest coming baby but we also wanted to celebrate the pregnancy, because moms and dad work hard during the pregnancy of a child and should have a time to gather together with family and friends and celebrate!

So, we ended up having a very fun causal baby shower. We asked if people wanted to bring gifts we would love diapers and wipes. Our theme of the shower was BBQ, we grilled burgers and had sides brought by family and friends. Jesse (our 4th) was born in July so we had an outdoor shower in June, and it was a wonderful time.

A fun dessert we did was hamburger cupcakes (You will notice I always recruit family and friend helpers, in my mind it is the only way to do this: as a team):

The “burger patty” was made out of brownie, and the “buns” was a cupcake cut in half

It was a beautiful time of celebration! I would encourage you who are having children no matter what the number order to take time to celebrate. AND those of us who are friends and family with those having these precious babies CELEBRATE THEM, both mom and baby! Having more children is a gift from God that should be celebrated, enjoyed and rejoiced, not looked at as “just another baby!”

Psalm 127:3 (NLT)

Children are a gift from the Lord;
    they are a reward from him.
