What makes a strong woman?
I believe that strong doesn’t mean you have to be loud, bossy, or controlling. I believe that you don’t have to be a liberal or conservative to be a strong woman. I believe that strong women don’t put others down (including men) but they encourage others to be courageous. I believe strong women can be fearless when it comes to facing hard situations and they can ask for help. They can be confident in who they are and what they believe, all while being humble and kind.
I fear that we as a society think that a strong woman looks one way, when really a strong woman has many ways to show their strengths. Lets look at some examples from the Bible.
Mary (Mother of Jesus) was a VERY strong woman. She was chosen by God to birth the Messiah. She is recognized as a woman who was humble and willing to SERVE God.
Queen Esther (one of my favorite stories growing up), was a heroine who saved the Jewish people. Her bravery and strength shown is her willingness to die to do the will of God. She didn’t let fear or position stand in her way.
Abigail was described in the Bible as intelligent, clever, and beautiful. She was a brave, humble woman who used the gifting God gave her to humbly plead for her husbands life.
Hannah was a mom. She prayed and prayed for a child, and God gave her Samuel. She provided him wisdom, and counsel and he grew up to be one of the most influential and Godly figures in the Bible.
And there are many other stories of Godly STRONG women in the Bible. But as you can see they are all different, they have different strength and callings on their lives.
It is important to me as a mom to show my daughter what a strong woman looks like. I have had many examples of what strong women look like growing up and it help create me to be the person I am today. Therefore, I implore you (all you women out there) to think about what it looks like to be a strong woman of GOD. Lets do this by taking examples out of the Bible, finding godly women influences to mentor and not letting the culture define for us what strong women should or shouldn’t be.
We are know strong women. We are raising the future generation of strong women! WE ARE STRONG WOMEN!
