My husband is a confident, wise and courageous man of God. However, when it comes to self-confidence it can feel like his confidence decreases. When I think about when we were first dating, both of us young and not fearful of the world, I remember joking with Darren that he was too confident and borderline bragging. Fast forward 10 years and and now I am finding myself boosting my husbands confidence in himself (total pendulum swing).
I could write a whole year of post explaining the many, MANY great things my husband is AWESOME at! And if I reflect on these past 10 years the truth of the matter is I could have done that 10 years ago too, so what has changed to cause him to have less confidence when it comes to himself?
I think that when we are young we are a little fish with big dreams about to jump into the fish bowl with everyone else, excited to see what splash we can make. We get our first job and dive head first. When we are in the fish bowl we start to see all the other big fish and other waves that we are swimming in. We try to find our place in this big ocean of a fish bowl. I believe we can become fearful or anxious to find our place.
As I have been processing this I started to realize that yes this mission of purpose applies to us all, but I think the head of our household feel the anxiousness perhaps even more as they are desperately trying to find their mission and purpose within their jobs, family, and community.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
This is my prayer for my husband that in this crazy fish bowl called life that he would NOT be fearful or anxious. While my husband is doing a wonderful job supporting his family and holding us up as our spiritual leader, I pray he will remember he has someone holding him up in God’s righteous right hand! I pray to continue to be the encourager in my husbands life. Pointing out all the wonderful gifts God has given him, and I will side-by-side swim along my husband nudging him to see the wonderful talents and abilities he has.
Dear Lord, I pray my husband would not be fearful or anxious. I pray he would turn to you for his support. I pray that You would remind him about his amazing gifts You have given him! I pray his confidence would be found in you, his courageousness would be strengthen by You, and his bravery would be easy to come by knowing You are by his side! Thanks you for the role of encourager I get to be in my husbands life, support me in my words of affirmation. Thank you Lord for your blessings and opportunities you give us!
Join me in praying for the men in our lives to be filled with courage and bravery!
