Prayer for Contentment

Isn’t it always the struggle to encourage contentment and not to covet or want what others have? Especially in this season of gift giving and receiving.

Our family has decided to not give gifts to the kids but instead to do acts of service. We have an “advent calendar” that hangs in envelopes and labeled for each date 12 days before christmas. The activities we get to do range from, make cookies for neighbors, write thank you cards to those who put up lights, bring a poinsettia to a local nursing home, etc. We also enjoy doing family activities like snowman hot chocolate, family game night, nightly reading, driving around looking at lights, cutting down our own tree and decorating, etc.

This works now in our lives with the kids ages and the fact that grandparents are still purchasing gifts for the kids. My prayer is that we can create a spirit of contentment and a happy heart with the things we have.

1 Timothy 6:6-9 says, “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.”

Lord, I pray for the hearts of my children, I pray that they will be forming a heart of contentment. I pray that I will be a model and example of contentment which I know is something I can work on! As you are refining me Lord, please let my children learn and grow from that refining process. Lord, let us all not put our joy in possessions but in the fruits of the spirit and the eternal hope found in You!

Join me in this season to bring pray to ourselves and our children as well as we pray for contentment.

Wisdom for My Husband

James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

I believe my husband is a very wise man, a godly man and a hard working man; however, I am dedicated to contiuning to pray for this quailities in him. I am also dedicated to teaching my kids for pray for daddy as well.

I remember a story my mother-in-law told me about when her kids were younger and they would pray for her husbands work together as a family. Darren (my husbands) dad is self employed and when Darren was young his father started his business. As with many self-employed businesses the beginning from scratch can be hard, require a lot of work, and prayer. My MIL said they would sit around the table and pray that work would come in for the business, especially when there was no work on the books that day. The BEST part of the story she told was when her husband got home he say, “STOP PRAYING (in joke) I had so much work today, too much for just me to do :)”

The Power of Prayer, it is a real thing! I want to be purposeful and specific when I pray for my husband. I would like to focus my best on praying for him to have wisdom at work. That while he is a work he can feel Gods wisdom guiding him in his pursuits and discussion making.

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you would be with my husband as he is at work. Please give him wisdom in his pursuits, discussion making, and words as he is at work. Speak through him. Allow my husband to work as though he is working for you in all that he does.

Join me as we pray for our husbands, pray that they will have wisdom at work. For Gods word says, “you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

Remember All God Has Done

As a mom, I get into this schedule driven, distracted, diaper changing, feeding frenzy, loving on my littles life style, where I can tend to not see the beauty of all the things God has done for me. From the little things to the big things in life, everything that God has done is a blessing, and I for one don’t want to miss it.

Psalm 103:2 says, “Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.”

I want that verse to be my prayer for myself and my family! LET ALL THAT I AM PRAISE THE LORD!!! May I never forget the GOOD THINGS he does for ME!

LORD, you are so good to me! You have provided so many blessings for myself and my family! I want your praise to ever be on my lips! Help me lord and my family to always remember all you have done for us!

Join me in recognizing all the many things God does for us! Let us PRAISE him for his goodness!

Light and Truth

My children love to sing the song, This Little Light of Mine, as they sing I get such joy hearing them sing! However, since they are young they don’t realize the message of the song. It would be a great disservice to them if I waited to start praying and talking to them about following the light of truth and letting it shine until their comprehension is ready. It would be a disservice because it would be too late. I need to start speaking and praying these truths to them now.

Psalm 43:3 – Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.

Lord, let my children be led by your light and truth! Let them see the lighted path before them. Bring them into a relationship with you, Lord. Guide them along the path of truth.

Join me in praying for our children salvation, that they will see the light and truth that God has in store for them.

Favor at Work

I can just start by saying the job of a mom is HARD, REWARDING, and something I ENJOY so much! Something I NEED is for my job as a mom to be covered in PRAYER! Not only does my job as a mom need prayer but my husbands job REALLY NEEDS prayer as well!

As I think about my husband and his work I want to pray for favor for him at work. I want my prayers to go before him while he continues to work hard for our family.

Proverbs 22:29 – Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.

Lord, I pray my husband will show hard work, passion and diligence at work. I pray that my husband will receive favor at work. I pray that you will be with him as he is at work providing wisdom.

Join me in praying for the providers in our life, that they will receive favor in their work.

With all the distractions the world has I want to pray for my children to have FOCUS. But, not just random focus, I want them to be able to focus on the important things in life.

2 Corinthians 4:18 – So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Lord, I pray that my children will see the unseen, they will not be distracted by what is not eternal. There is so many wonderful, beautiful and glory-filled things for us to fix our eyes on, may my children not be blinded.

Join me in becoming a mom who prays intentionally for the precious gifts in our lives, our children. They are truly a blessing from God!

Man of Prayer

My husband is an amazing man, with GREAT qualities! However I would be doing my husband and family a HUGE disservice if I didn’t continue to pray for him. In the good times and hard times I should always be lifting my husband up in prayer.

Colossians 4:2 says: Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Not only should I devote myself to praying for my husband but I should be praying for him to be praying. Wow that is a lot of praying 🙂

Lord God, I pray that my husband will be a man of prayer, that as he walks through the day that there would be a constant communication with you. I pray not only for conversation prayer to happen for my husband but also for battle prayers would  be part of my husbands daily communication with you. I pray scripture would be on his lips as a form of YES and AMEN style of prayers. I pray that he would lift up the kids and myself in prayer. I pray that he will be encouraged and refreshed when he takes the time to pray!

Join me as I pray for my husband. The role of a husband, man of the house, provider, spiritual leader, man of integrity, partner and friend, is not a role that should be without prayer. Let us all cover these men in our lives with intentional prayer.

Being a mom is one of the hardest but most rewarding job I have ever had. It can also be one of the jobs that has made me the most tired during the day. From pregnancy to nursing, to sleepless nights and chasing toddles (all the same time) my physical body and mind can get TIRED!

Well I have newly discovered a “energy drink” – PRAYER. (Hear me out)

Psalm 103:5 – He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

ASK and you share RECEIVE. See I thought that I didn’t have time to stop and pray because I was TOO busy, but the truth is when I stop, breathe, refocus I regain energy! It is a divine energy because I am not be physically awake (more like a walking zombie) BUT it is a energy of peace. The energy of peace allows me to correct with patience, breathe through frustrations, apologize in outbursts, and ENJOY the ride!

God, renew my every when I am tired. Remind me to stop and pray during the day. Allow me to receive your divine energy. Create in me a peaceful and joyful spirit. Thank you for your provisions in my life and for the blessings you have given!

Join me in remember to pray for ourselves, to stop and reach out to God in our tired moments.

Prayer is such a powerful thing that I for one have not been utilizing enough in my family, especially when it comes to my children.

I am really good at “surface” prayers but I am ready to dive deeper into and go to battle for the specific needs of my family.

Join me as I pray for my family and for yours as well.

Today’s battle plan is: PROTECTION!

“Father, protect my children from influences that are not good.”

1 Corinthians 15:33 – Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

Lord you are good and love my children beyond measure, I pray that you will help guide them away from influences that are not good. Speak truth to them so loud they will walk in that truth, towards the light, and away from evil.

Join me in prayer, as I specifically, desperately, and continually pray for the protection of my children and yours.

Pregnancy Announcements

Memory lane continues:

I have had the opportunity to announce that Darren and I are expecting 4 times! Here is how we did it.

Baby #1:

We hosted a family dinner and their “appetizer” was in a little Chinese take out box on their plates. When they opened it this is what they found:

White oneies with sayings like: I can’t wait to bake with auntie, I can’t wait to garden with Papa, I cant wait to play basketball with uncle etc.

Baby #2

During Fathers Days we handed out cards to the dads and they had these pictures in them (thank you velvet for your photos):

Darren LOVES to play the guitar so we were creating our family band 😉

Baby #3

We had our one boy and one girl so for this next announcement we announced we were having a “tie breaker.” During Thanksgiving 2015 we told our family with this goofy pictures (we have one dog which is a male and one that is a female so of course we had to include them. Thank you Thomas for taking our photo)
