I am a passionate parent, I enjoy the role, however I feel terrified as a parent about the responsibility that has been given to me as I look at the little faces I am raising.

Thank goodness there is a God who loves my children even more then I do, which is completely hard to even imagine but at the same time so reassuring!

I ran across a convicting, sobering and encouraging quote, “The battle for your children’s character will be won on your watch.” WOW, that is an intense statement and yet I can see truth in it.

As I think back to experiences already as a mom there has been so many training opportunities and conversation already, from learning about including everyone to finding opportunity to help those in need, to showing respectful leadership and more (and my oldest just turned 4!) I will say it again WOW! This role of parent has some amazing and yet terrifying opportunities.

The battle is worth it, the battle for character grown and development is at hand. It is time to put our armor on, pray for wisdom and listen to the Holy Spirit as he guides us.

A healthy dose of fear can create attentiveness and show the realness of our role at hand.

Dear Lord, prepare us for how to battle for the character of our children, allow Your wisdom to guide and direct our parenting. The opportunities and conversations are always there, Lord please give me the words to speech and the eyes to see those opportunities all around me to help develop my children’s characters.

We are born sinful in nature and in need of refining. So it should be no surprise that our children need refining and guidance as they navigate this world and develop their character.

Thriving Body and Soul

My husband has been on a health journey this last year, finding opportunities to develop habits to exercise, eat healthy and spiritual growth. Boy oh Boy this is a battle I myself need to consistently start over and over again as well. This is a life long process of recreating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle not just physically but also spiritually too. SO because it is something we need to consistently be maintaining there is TONS of opportunity for praying for my husbands health.

What I have learned lately is when my husband is thriving in his health and soul that can translate into our families health and souls. Therefore I want to take every opportunity to pray, support and encourage this thriving lifestyle.

Where Can We Fill a Need?

With any community there are needs. Some communities include: family, church, neighborhood, and or city. There are areas of need, and as the a believer I feel it is important to find opportunities to give back what has been given to me to those in need. Please hear me I am not amazing at this by any means but I want to be aware and improving in the area; especially when it comes to being an example to my children.

I have been blessed in many ways and want to be a good steward of the gifts and blessings God has given to me. In order to be a good steward I need to find ways to be purposeful with those blessings.

Philippines 2:4 says, “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”

A smile is its sword. copy 3

Dear Lord, I pray that you would provide my family and I opportunities to fill needs in and around our community. Please open our eyes so we can see those we can bless. Lord I specifically pray that I can be an example to my kids how to be a good steward of the blessing you have given us. I pray that my kids will start to see needs that they can fill. Thank you Lord for your many blessings.

Join me in prayer for opportunities to fill needs around us. Let us all remember that needs are not just financial but could be emotional, relationship, physical, spiritual and or more.

What God has Ordained

Do you ever worry? SILLY question right! Before I was a parent I was probably the biggest worry wart there was, and now that I am a parent, well words can not express what kind of worry wart I am.

BUT there is hope for me and for those of you who are worry warts too!

My hope is found in God, for Isaiah 14:27 says, “The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has spoken, who can change his plans? When his hand is raised, who can stop him?”

There is hope, because the author of our stories is in CONTROL!

A smile is its sword. copy

Thank you LORD for being the author of our lives! For giving us the security we need in YOU! This life is scary enough but when we are discouraged or worried we can put our TRUST in the ONE who ALL the forces of darkness cannot stop! What you have ordained WILL happen! Lord THANK YOU!

I need this encouragement daily! It can be a scary thing to not be in control. But truly when I know that the plans of the LORD are so much greater then I could have imagined I gladly put my trust in the LORD!

Working as Unto the Lord

Working as unto the Lord can be a convicting thing. I use this expression with my kids a lot, especially when it comes to cleaning or completing a task. It is important to make sure we are hard-working and yet having a happy heart while completing these task. Today, I want to take the time to pray for my husband to have this attitude of doing all he does for the the Lord, even at work and with his talents, passions and pursuits.

My husband is in general a VERY hard-working man. But the specific element I want to pray for him for in his work would be Glorify God by making sure his heart would be in the right place while he is working. There is so many daily activities and circumstances that can drag us away from the purpose and reason for the work we do, especially at work. Having a joyful heart does not only help our perspective at work, an encouragement to those we work with but it also Glorifies God!

In addition, I want to pray that my husband’s passions and pursuits would Glorify God. He is a very smart man, who enjoys learning and trying different things. I pray my husband would see that no matter what we do we can do it as unto the Lord.

Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever work you do, do it with all your heart. Do it for the Lord and not for men.”RaisingRices copy

Dear Lord, I pray my husband works with all his heart as unto the Lord. I pray that his heart would respond in working for the joy of the Lord. I pray that he would glorify you in all he does with his many talents! Thank you for my wonderful husband and the gifts you have given. Thank you Lord!

Join me as we pray for our own husbands and those around us that they would be encouraged in their talents, that they view their work in a purpose of Glorifying God.

Guide me LORD in the Choices I make

As a mom, wife or parent we are faced with a lot of choices for our family. Some choices like what should be allowed to be watched in our family, what type of family vehicle should we save for, even what is for dinner! CHOICES CHOICES CHOICES they are everywhere! And quiet frankly I feel at a lost for their answers at times (ok all the time!).

My prayer is that I would allow the LORD to guide me in those choices.

Proverbs 3: 5-6 says,

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.

This well known verse is so easy to overlook while remembering to seeks God’s guidance. TRUST in the LORD!! In ALL WAYS!!! Even with choices 🙂

Lord, I pray that I will seek you for guidance, that I will listen to your wisdom and that I will TRUST in the plan and will you have for my families lives. I pray as my husband and I seek you and your guidance that we will be met with answers to do you work in our family. Thank you Lord, for always directing our paths.

JOIN me in not only praying for guidance but making the choice to turn to God, trust in Him, and allow his wisdom to flood our choices.

Prayer for my Kids to Honor God

Psalm 118:26-29 (NKJV)

26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
27 God is the Lord,
And He has given us light;
Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will praise You;
You are my God, I will exalt You.

29 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.

If you were to look up HONOR in the dictionary you would find the top two definitions for the honor:

  1. High Respect; Esteem.
  2. A Privilege

And the top two definitions for the verb HONOR:

  1. Regard with Great Respect
  2. Fulfill or Keep (an agreement)

I love when I read about the definition of words and it provides me with new insights and motivations. For example, today after reading the the definition the word PRIVILEGE stuck out to me! IT is our PRIVILEGE to show honor to who honor is due.

Lord I pray today that I can teach and show my kids about honor. I pray to show them that it is an honor and blessing to give honor and Glory to God. I pray that they will view it as a privilege to lift the name of the LORD on high. I pray as they walk and play and see your Glory show that they will praise you for the what they see. I pray you will be blessed and honored by them. And I pray I will lead by example, showing and teaching them by also honoring You!

Join me in praying for our children to honor and bless God with their words, actions, and passions.

TRUTH! Today it feels like their is so many versions of truth. My prayer for my children is that they will know THE TRUTH!

John 16:13 says:

13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

The Spirit of Truth is: THE HOLY SPIRIT who is with us always, and always ALWAYS guides us into TRUTH! He is the messenger of God and a critical part of the trinity, for he brings with him such hope and promise of the future, as well as comfort while we wait for that truth to come.

The funny is when we think of Truth, a lot of our worldview goes to the “truth” about science or math or world history, BUT this truth we are talking about in this verse  ‘guiding us into truth’,  is referring to spiritual truth that we need for growth in godliness.

SO my prayer for my kids is that they may KNOW God’s truth.

Lord, I pray that as my children learn more about you that they may KNOW YOUR TRUTH. I pray that our conversations will be guiding them into the LIGHT of your TRUTH. That they will search after and find the Spirit of Truth. Thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to be the messenger and comforter.

Join me, as well pray for the Spirit of Truth to be known in our children’s lives. And pray they KNOW TRUTH!

Moms prayer for Strength

I heard a couple quotes this week:

“Pick your battles,” and the comedian who I was listening to then went further to say, “Instead of telling yourself: pick your battles, what you should really be saying is ‘pick the battles you want to loose.'”

Interesting when you think about it, if you are viewing what choices and actions you make as a battle, you are prioritizing which ones you are hoping to win and which ones you are disregarding and ultimately loosing (in a way).

Now not everyone views life as a battle field, and most certainly do or did not. BUT as I was pondering this comment I began to think of the larger picture and how battles are part of a war. And I am as a parent, part of a war for my children’s heart. See there are many battles, against many things, not just their hearts but their minds (what they feel and believe), their honor and integrity (what they do), their eyes (what they see and remember); I could go on and on about the different parts of life that we are fighting the battles about.

It makes me tired, sad, and discouraged to think about all the battles ahead of me. So my prayer as a mom today is to be given the strength EACH day to fight for my family! (KIDS and HUSBAND and ME!)

Let’s Battle!

Nehemiah 4:14 says, “14 After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”

God, I pray you would give me the strength to fight for my family EACH and EVERY DAY! God, there is a HUGE war out there for each of my children, for my husband and for me and I pray that I will remember why I fight! I will remember not do be afraid because you are GREAT and AWESOME!! And to hold on to the truth that we know the VICTORY is yours! AMEN!

JOIN ME! IT is time to battle, to battle in prayer! We need to find our strength renewed each day in the VICTOR! Pray with me!

Grateful Hearts

During Thanksgiving and Holidays we tend to be reminded to show our thanks and gratefulness. I want to pray that I will continue to pray for my children to have grateful hearts.

I find when I am correcting my kiddos behavior I tend to use phrase like:

“Lets have a happy heart,” OR “I need you to have a sharing heart,” OR “Are we showing a thankful heart?”

As I am praying for my children I pray they will show and grow a heart of gratefulness.

Hebrews 13:15 says, “15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.”

Lord God, I pray that you will invade my children’s hearts with the thankfulness. That they will look around them and see all of the many gifts you have given us; not just physical gifts like family, house, food, but also love, laugher, and grace. Lord thank you for the promises you give us and the hope we have in you.

Join me in praying for our children’s hearts, that they will be creating a heart that reflects Jesus.
